TRANSMISSION INFORMATION
Just like U-Joints, all the OEM's have their own
tranny's. This part is organized by Make, Spline size, number, and Seal diameter. In all
CASES see (fig.E).
GM
There are a bunch of models of GM Tranny's, BUT only a few Spline & Seal
Combinations.
- (a)1.167 x 27 spl. (s)1.500 These
are the most common. Include; POWERGLIDE(65&UP), T.H.200,
T.H.200R-4, T.H.350, 700R-4, MUNICE M-21, SAG.3spd&4spd.(65&UP)
- (a)1.375 x 32 spl. (s)1.875 This is
the big one. Applications; T.H.400, M-22 MUNICE, BW SUPER T-10 4L80E.
- (a)1.167 x 16 spl. Old, pre-64 stuff. Early
POWERGLIDE, SAG.3spd., M-20 MUNICE 4spd.
- (a)1.375 x 32spl. (s) 1.688 Just to
confuse things, this is an uncommon T.H.400 made from 67-72 in SOME Chevy
P.U. Applications.
FORD
Just like GM, a bunch of different models, only a few spline sizes.
- (a)1.167 x 28 spl. Most light to med. duty stuff,
I'll admit not knowing every model Ford has ever used. Includes; C-4, AOD, &
a bunch of 3,4,&5 speeds, T-5 included.
- (a)1.354 x 31 spl. (s)1.685
Applications Include; C-6, FMX, TOPLOADER 4spd., ZF 5spd.
CHRYSLER
Again, only 2 basic splines.
- (a)1.156 x 26 spl. (s)1.563.
Applications include; A904 auto. & most 3 spds.
- (a)1.275 x 32 spl. (s)1.685. This
is Chrysler's big one. Applications; A833 4spd., A727 auto.
OTHERS
- RICHMOND Most Richmond 4&5 spd. Trans use GM#2.
- BORG-WARNER When supplied as an OEM trans. BW used
each makers spline and seal. Example: Early T-10 in Chevy used GM#3, in a Ford it used
FORD #1. Late Model aftermarket Super T-10 use GM#2.
